The John Lucas Basketball Resources Midwest Invitational Camp converges on the city of Louisville this weekend. Scout Kentucky Preps will be on hand to bring you the latest on the state's talented youngsters that are expected to participate.

The John Lucas Basketball Resources Midwest Invitational Camp comes to the city of Louisville this weekend.

This special event will host a number of the top players throughout the country ranging from grades 8 thru 11.

Former hoops great and ESPN analyst Len Elmore will open the camp at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday by addressing the participants and fans.

A number of top local players are expected to be on hand for the event. Some of the participants of local interest include:


Darryl Hicks (Trinity)


Jackson Davis (Lafayette)

Quentin Snider (Ballard)

D'Angelo Russell (Central)

Kahlil Rasheed (John Hardin)

Craig Owens (Trinity)

Also expected are children of former University of Kentucky and University of Louisville players.

Former Kentucky standouts Dirk Minniefield and James Blackmon will both have sons participating. Darrin Minniefield is a class of 2013 prospect, while James Blackmon, Jr. is a top 2014 prospect. Blackmon recently made a verbal commitment to play for Indiana coach Tom Crean.

On the Louisville side is ex-UofL All-American Pervis Ellison's son, Malik, and ex-UofL standout Scooter McCray's son, Malik. Ellison's son is widely projected as one of the top players in the class of 2015, while McCray's son is a talented player in his own right.

Camp Info

-The camp is open to the public and admission is $10.00 for a weekend pass or $7.00 per day at the door.

-Registration for participants will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2nd.

-The camp will officially open at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

-Camp Times: Saturday 12:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Recommended Stories
