Last season Chad Lawrence led Simon Kenton deep into the third round of the playoffs before they fell in a shootout to eventual champion, St. Xavier. Lawrence has gotten his team off to another great start and look to be a threat to win the 6A title this season.
"The season is going great," said Lawrence. "Our team is starting to come together and we're winning football games," he said.
The 5-1 Pioneers are led by the 6-foot Lawrence who has 592 yards rushing with 5 touchdowns. He's also thrown for 1043 yards and eight touchdowns so far this year.
"I feel like I've played my hardest every play. But as long as we're winning, (how I play) doesn't matter to me," he said. "My leadership skills and my coverage reads (have improved the most," he continued.
Lawrence believes his team can the state title game this year and win the whole thing. "I think we can win a state championship. We just have to stick together and believe," he continued.
Lawrence hasn't received any scholarship offers for the next level, but the interest is there for the productive senior.
I hear from Campbellsville, Thomas More, Lindsey Wilson, Georgetown, Ohio, Eastern Kentucky and Bowling Green," he said. "I'm being patient and will continue to play my game and do my best to earn (an offer)," he said.
Lawrence has visited Lindsey Wilson, Ohio and Thomas More so far.
