ASU commits react to Malzahn news

Arkansas State fans were stunned here Tuesday afternoon when Gus Malzahn told his ASU Football team he was accepting the job at Auburn University. Go "Inside" to see what ASU commitment Logan Cart had to say about it.

Logan Cart has been committed to the Arkansas State program since April of 2012. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound interior lineman from caught up with AStateNation.com to get his take on head coach, Gus Malzahn's departure from the Red Wolves program and how his senior season went at Owensboro (Ky.) Catholic.

"Right now I'm comfortable with it," said Logan Cart on the coaching change. "I'm going to wait and see who the new coach is going to be, but I'm still committed. I've been on four or five unofficial visits to Jonesboro and bonded with the other recruits in the class. I just called Coach Hall and he's coming up to talk to me more about it tomorrow.

"Arkansas State is absolutely a place where I feel like I can come in and make an immediate impact. That's one reason why I picked it. It's always been my goal to come in and compete for playing time right away."

Cart completed his senior season at Catholic on November 9th when his team, the Aces, fell in the second round of the Kentucky 2A playoffs to Murray.

"We did well this year," stated Cart. "I think we exceeded expectations by going undefeated in the regular season. We mixed it up with me playing mostly the nose or the three-technique. I had 19 or 20 sacks, two interceptions, and five forced fumbles."

This was Cart's forth season as a starter on varsity. This winter and fall he plans to be cheerleader for his high school while working on weightlifting and agility training. His official visit to Arkansas State is set for January 18th.
