The 6-foot-1, 275-pound Bennett visited Army this summer while checking out both Army and Navy. He got a chance to meet with the coaches and felt comfortable dealing with them.
After a short time, Bennett got an offer from the Black Knights. That was his first offer after receiving interest from Navy, Bowling Green, Western Kentucky, Marshall, Murray State and several Ivy League schools.
Now the deal is done.
"I committed to Army over the weekend," said Bennett.
So why now? What made Bennett go with the offer from Army?
"I just decided that Army was where I wanted to go to go," said Bennett. "I decided to commit. I decided after spending some time reflecting on my past visit and looking at what the school had to offer," he said.
"At my position I use my athleticism and my quickness so I can get on linebackers real fast. My ability to trap and pull are strengths. My quickness helps me," he said. "I can always improve my strength. And I think I need to get a little faster," Bennett continued.
Bennett projects as an interior lineman at the next level.
