DuPont Manual has produced several quality players over the years. One of the up and coming young players on the roster is running back DarMontre Warr.

Standing 5-foot-9, 181-pounds DarMontre Warr has good size as a junior running back, but he's also got great speed with a 4.41 forty. But Warr knows there is more than being fast and strong when it comes to being a running back and he wants to improve it all.

"I like to get better at a lot of things every year," said Warr. "I try to make some more improvements. I watch film and find what I can do to better my team," he said. "It's a lo that I have to do to get better," he continued.

"I guess you can say that I'm a good runner. I just like to motivate my team and get the ready and pumped," he finished.

Last year as a sophomore, Warr lead Manual in rushing and he hopes to have another strong season this season. "I had a pretty good season last year," he said. "This year I plan on doing a lot more for my team and I gotta step up to the play," he continued.

Warr and his teammates have a new coach and a new system this year so while they fell to Fort Thomas Highlands in the first game 45-14, Warr isn't discouraged.

"We have a new offense and we made some mistakes that we have to fix," said Warr. "I think our offense will be pretty good this year. Overall as a team we didn't play well, but I can see us getting better as the season goes on," he finished.

Recruiting is just getting started for Warr, but he's already heard from Central Michigan and Illinois, but they are just letters of inquiry at this point. Warr's focused on his team and reaching goals that he set.

"I'm trying to have 1500 to 2000 yards this year and 15 touchdowns. My biggest goal for this season is to win a state championship," he said. "We gotta get everybody on the same page as the coaches," he said. "For me to reach my goal, I have to be a lot more focused on football. Just have to stay in some weekends and go work out."

Warr and Manual take on Fern Creek next week.
