Once an unknown commodity, Louisville (Ky.) Eastern's Kameron Woods had a solid summer AAU season that ended with over a dozen scholarship offers from schools across the country. Woods recently decided to pull the trigger and end his college recruitment. ScoutKentuckyPreps.com caught up with the talented senior on Tuesday afternoon to discuss his recent commitment.

Kameron Woods is now off the board.

"I committed to Butler," Woods told ScoutKentuckyPreps.com on Tuesday afternoon.

After a stellar performance on the summer AAU circuit, Woods received calls from a number of colleges in an attempt to secure his services. One of those calls came from Butler head man Brad Stevens several weeks ago. Looking back, it appears that particular call led to a relationship that would help Woods make a quicker decision than he originally planned.

“The biggest factors to me were the fact that I can play for Coach Stevens,” Woods said. “I feel like [we] got along so well and he is a really good coach.”

Along with a great relationship with the coaching staff, Woods was looking for a destination where he could feel at home over the next four years. The multi-talented forward recently visited the Butler campus and came away highly impressed with the experience.

“I got along with the other players and I really liked the campus”, Woods said. “I know that they have a real family atmosphere, which is something I value when going away from home [to school].”

Woods, who plays center on one of the best high school teams in the state of Kentucky, will more than likely slot in at both forward spots for the Bulldogs at the next level. According to Woods, an early chance at earning playing time is a strong possibility.

“After talking with Coach Stevens, I know that if I come in and continue to work hard I will be able to play as a freshman and contribute to a team that will already have some good pieces,” Woods said.

While the recruiting process was a relatively short one for Woods, he is confident that Butler is the perfect place for him.

“At the end of the day, I made this decision because they [Butler] are as close to the best fit for me as possible. And I know they will help me become the best player and student I can be,” Woods finished.

The addition of Kameron Woods, who chose Butler over offers from Boston College, WKU, Tulane, and IUPUI among others, gives head coach Brad Stevens a three-man class thus far for 2011. Woods joins 6-foot-3 wing Roosevelt Jones and 6-foot-7 forward Andrew Smeathers as verbal commitments for the Bulldogs.
